Wheaton Youth Outreach (WYO)

Wheaton Youth Outreach is a community based youth and family resource center serving the greater Wheaton area. Services include counseling for individuals, couples and families, crisis intervention for runaway and homeless teens, casework services for basic needs, and transitional housing for young women.

The Bilingual Therapist serves on WYO’s Specialized Youth Services Team and provides support and therapy to youth in crisis to keep youth safe, connected to their parents and prevent or minimize involvement with child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Responsibilities include: maintaining a full-time therapy case load with individuals, youth identified as high risk by their families, the legal system, or the educational system and families; providing crisis intervention services to local police departments regarding runaway or locked-out youth; assisting with training crisis team members; maintaining strong community contacts to facilitate excellent coordination of comprehensive services and the completion of monthly reports regarding program services.

Requirements

Bilingual (Spanish/ English) and able to provide therapy in Spanish . Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field. Clinical licensure preferred. 3 years of experience in systemic interventions with youth; ability to navigate the educational, legal and mental health delivery systems; sensitivity to the needs of a low-income, culturally diverse population. Valid IL driver’s license, insurance, reliable vehicle and good driving record. Must live within 30 minutes of downtown Wheaton to respond to crisis calls. Microsoft Word/ Excel. A commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith.

Status

Full-time with 2 evenings/week; rotating coverage of crisis response phone.

Compensation

Salary for this position falls between $36,500 and $42,000 based on language skills, clinical experience and licensure. Additional compensation on an hourly basis for crisis work performed outside of business hours.
