To provide support for students in the after-school program.

Role & Traits

  • 16 years or older
  • Oositive role model for students and families
  • Find joy through sharing your time, talents and energy with students
  • Can work one-on-one or in small groups


  • Attend trainings and meetings
  • Assist student with homework
  • Assist and/or provide special activities for students which could include arts & crafts or recreational activities
  • Assist with special events including field trips (if needed)


  • York Community Resource Center (Lombard): Monday through Thursday, 3–5 p.m. from September through May
  • Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream: Monday through Friday, 3:30–6:30 p.m
  • Volunteer shifts can be 1–2 hours
  • Start and end dates will be determined at the beginning of each school year
  • Volunteer sessions are not scheduled during school holidays

Getting Started

  • Complete the Volunteer Application
  • Interview with the OCM Director of Volunteer Service
  • Interview with Program Coordinator
  • Complete a fingerprinting and background check
