Goal
To provide support for students in the after-school program.
Role & Traits
- 16 years or older
- Oositive role model for students and families
- Find joy through sharing your time, talents and energy with students
- Can work one-on-one or in small groups
Responsibilities
- Attend trainings and meetings
- Assist student with homework
- Assist and/or provide special activities for students which could include arts & crafts or recreational activities
- Assist with special events including field trips (if needed)
Schedule
- York Community Resource Center (Lombard): Monday through Thursday, 3–5 p.m. from September through May
- Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream: Monday through Friday, 3:30–6:30 p.m
- Volunteer shifts can be 1–2 hours
- Start and end dates will be determined at the beginning of each school year
- Volunteer sessions are not scheduled during school holidays
Getting Started
- Complete the Volunteer Application
- Interview with the OCM Director of Volunteer Service
- Interview with Program Coordinator
- Complete a fingerprinting and background check
