Division: Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream
The Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream is a multi-purpose, neighborhood resource center serving a low-income, ethnically diverse neighborhood. Services include counseling, casework, mentoring, community development and after-school programs for children and youth.
As Gym Teacher, supervises 1st – thru 5th- grade students in structured play in the morning sessions of the summer day camp program. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating activities and providing student supervision for 15-20 students during class. As Program Aide, works directly with the program coordinator to provide administrative and program support to a team of teachers and aides in the afternoon sessions. Responsibilities include assisting the program coordinator with distributing lunch, communication, field trip logistics, tracking program expenses and occasional substitute teaching.
Previous recreation or gym leader experience with elementary school students is required. High School Diploma; program support background a plus. Candidate must have sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families. Certain requirements based on DCFS licensing standards such as three written references, college transcripts, TB test, and medical form needed. Commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith is required.

Salary for this position falls between $14 -$16.50 per hour based on education, skills and experience.
