Department: York Community Resource Center

York Community Resource Center (YCRC) is a multi-purpose neighborhood resource center serving Lombard and Villa Park that provides supportive services to modest-income and culturally-diverse residents.  Services include case management, after-school and summer school programs for children and youth and community development activities.

Job Responsibilities:

The High School Youth Worker is a temporary staff position that will work closely with the YCRC Director over 4-5 months to engage area high school students with the goal to launch a Youth Council. The Youth Council, a student leadership group, will assess the needs of youth in the community, research other youth programs and organizations and make recommendations for future youth services. The YCRC Director will provide ongoing facilitation and support for the Youth Council once it is formed.

The High School Youth Worker’s responsibilities will include getting to know the students and families currently connected to the YCRC, partnering with the YCRC Director to develop community relationships with local schools and local youth programs, promoting the YCRC’s current programs and resources, organizing and facilitating a variety of youth outreach activities, recruiting students to participate in events/ activities, leading students through an assessment and research process, and consistently demonstrating an engaging, strengths-based and empowering communication style with students and parents.


High School diploma, some college preferred.  A passion for engaging and empowering youth; at least 2 years of youth development, youth ministry or youth outreach work; demonstrated ability to effectively engage students and parents; sensitivity to the needs of students and families from modest-income and diverse backgrounds, ability to plan and execute student events; good judgment and high dependability, basic computer skills. Familiarity with Lombard and Villa Park a plus. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) a plus. Valid IL driver’s license, insurance, reliable vehicle and good driving record required. A commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith required.


Temporary from May 1, 2017-August 18, 2017 (earlier start date possible)

Full-time at 35-40 hours each week. Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm with some evening and weekend work based on the development of events and programming.


Hourly rate falls between $14.50-$17 based on language ability, skills and experience.
