The ribbon has been cut and Jubilee Furniture has opened its doors at the new location, 730 East North Ave. in Carol Stream. The grand opening celebration took place on Thursday, April 10 at noon with help from the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce.

To commemorate the grand opening, select items are marked down 25-40% throughout the store for the weekend of April 10-12.

The store’s new, expanded hours are Thursdays and Fridays, 1 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The new, 20,000 square-foot showroom offers quality pre-owned furniture including sofas, tables, headboards, mattresses, artwork, lamps, collectibles and antiques and vintage furniture.

Future exterior renovations for the Jubilee Furniture site are already in the works. A future 10,000 square foot addition will be proposed this fall to serve as the home for an employment opportunity training center for young adults, which will be a division of Outreach Community Ministries, Inc. The center will include training classrooms, staff offices and meeting spaces. The training program will provide classroom curriculum, on-the-job training activities at Jubilee furniture and other OCM community service sites, and internships at area corporations in partnership with the center. As many as 30 students will be served in year one. Eventually, OCM anticipates that capacity will grow to 80 students a year.

In May, a pilot program for the new employment training center will begin, serving five to six students each quarter. Corporate businesses interested in partnering on this project are encouraged to call Vanessa Roth at 630-682-1910.
