Puente del Pueblo at Main Park Apartments—West Chicago, IL

Puente del Pueblo is an outreach of Wheaton Bible Church in partnership with Outreach Community Ministries. Puente del Pueblo is located on site at apartment complexes where services include case management, adult literacy, ESL, tutoring, after school and summer programming for elementary, junior high and high school students and community events.


The Junior High Teacher is responsible for building relationships with at-risk junior high students and facilitating learning in the summer day program. Duties include working with groups of students in academic instruction, community service, life skills instruction, recreational activities, as well as team building and motivating students for success. Some positions require transporting students to and from programs.


A passion for working with junior high students; Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work or a related field; previous classroom teaching or group experience with adolescents; previous experience facilitating experiential or service learning strongly preferred; sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families and culturally diverse background; current, valid IL driver’s license along with a good driving record and reliable transportation.  Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates preferred. A commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith is required.

Program Schedule Four days, and 32 hours, per week


Hourly rate falls between $14 and $16.50 per hour based on education, skills, language ability and experience.
