Warrenville Youth & Family Services (WYFS) Link mentoring matches recently enjoyed an evening serving at Feed my Starving Children in Aurora, an organization that packs and distributes food to people in developing nations.
“This is an annual favorite of the Link mentoring program,” says Leslee Cremer, WYFS youth services director. “Students are highly engaged and motivated to serve. They display a true empathy for the children and families that FMSC serves across the world.”
Students and their adult mentor matches work as quickly and effectively as they can to verify they are accomplishing as much as they are able during their volunteer slot. Link mentors always walk away saying how proud they are of their Link matches, adds Leslee.
The Link Mentoring program at WYFS matches young people with caring adults. These mentors develop friendships through shared activities and offer guidance, support and encouragement.
