Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream (OCC)
OCC is a multi-purpose neighborhood resource center serving residents in the southern section of Carol Stream. OCC provides a wide range of community services including: casework, counseling, summer and afterschool programs, tutoring, mentoring, and community development.

This office supports all programs at OCC. This internship would not be embedded in one program in particular, but rather interact and support all programs offered at OCC.

The intern will work most closely with the OCC Executive Director and be exposed to project management, on-site programs, community partnerships, and grant compliance. Responsibilities include observing all on-site programs, researching best practices and training ideas, creating interactive opportunities for new employees, and collaborating with staff to develop a best practices employee training and procedure manual. Responsibilities could include attending community partnership meetings, site staff meetings, community events, parent engagement meetings, and staff/volunteer trainings.

The intern will receive exposure to the overall working of a Christian, community based social service ministry and its structure, policies and procedures. The intern will develop skills in program research, procedure writing and reporting processes.

BA/BS student with strong organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, basic to intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel), and a willingness to participate in a wide range of activities. Outreach seeks interns that demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of low-income and diverse populations who also support OCM’s Statement of Mission & Faith.

Minimum of 12-15 hours/week. Monday – Friday; between the hours of 9:00 am – 7:00 pm during the academic year.

Individual supervision provided weekly.
