The annual Older Adults Program Christmas luncheon was held at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton on Friday, December 15. More than 40 volunteers provided the food and served at the event.

To begin the event, Pastor Kyle Roggenbuck of FPC blessed the food, and a holiday feast followed. The menu included assorted appetizers, holiday ham, cranberry and pineapple jello cup, party potatoes, festive corn and chocolate mint trifle for dessert.

After lunch, the guests enjoyed the voices of the Franklin Middle School Vocal Ensemble and Lyric Singers under the direction of Mrs. Crystal Forbes. Each guest received a gift of a cutting board, set of three kitchen knives and a dish towel donated by Gary United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. They also received a $30 Jewel gift card donated by a local food pantry and local foundation.

Older Adults Activities Coordinator Kim Van Oss says, “We are blessed to have so many kind volunteers and donors who make this annual event possible. It lifts the older adults’ spirits during a time of year that can be hard, and many remark how special the day is to them. ”
