Quest, the Warrenville Youth & Family Services after-school program, is making service a priority! The group recently started volunteering at the Warrenville library each week for seven weeks. The younger students have been cleaning in the children’s play area of the library and the older students have been dusting shelves and making sure DVDs and CDs match their cases. The students will also be cleaning, organizing, labeling and sorting through bins and boxes of material to help staff prepare the library’s youth activity store room for future use.
Jorge Torres, Quest Program Coordinator, has been intentional about adding service and voluntarism to the program. “My hope is that students acquire work skills through service,” he says. “I also want them to get to know those in the community who are making a difference through their knowledge, professionalism and service.”
