Participants in Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream‘s (OCC) Older Adults Program received a special treat this June! Middle school students from First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton visited older adults living at Colony Park for “Coffee and Conversation.” The youth group brought muffins, donuts and lots of questions for the older adults. The group spent an hour learning about each other.

“The kids are still buzzing about how much they loved talking with the Colony Park residents,” said Laurie Meissner, interim director of middle school ministry at FPC. “Watching different generations make an instant connection was truly amazing. We can’t wait to come back and visit our new friends again.”

Kim Van Oss, Older Adults activity coordinator at OCC, said, “We value our partnerships with the area churches and it’s a double blessing when children are involved. The older adults love interacting with children!”
